Meet Coach Mike Harvey, Head Coach and Director of Track and Field at Spartan Club Hawaii and Track and Field Coordinator at Maryknoll School. With his extensive background as both a collegiate and professional athlete, coupled with his deep coaching qualifications, Coach Harvey brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his roles.

He is a USATF Level 2 Sprints Coach and is on track to achieve his Level 3 certification by the end of 2024. In addition to his track expertise, Coach Harvey is a certified Level 200 Rugby Coach, reflecting his diverse experience in both track and rugby.
As a student-athlete, Harvey was a four-year letter winner in Football and Track at New Mexico State University, where he became the 1994 Big West 100m Champion during his freshman year. His athletic prowess also extended to rugby, where he played for New Mexico State and later represented the USA Sevens Rugby Team from 2002 to 2006.
Balancing his professional career as a Senior IT Manager at Hawaiian Airlines, Coach Mike continues to compete at a high level. He excels in the 100m Open/Masters Division and was a 2019 Team USA Masters athlete as well as the 2019 Indoor 60m National Champion. His passion for both track and rugby, along with his commitment to his athletes, makes him an inspiring leader both on and off the field.

Coach Kyle (KJ) has been coaching track and field since 1999 when he first volunteered while completing his student teaching. He held high school assistant coaching positions in Pennsylvania and New Jersey where he specialized in all four jumping disciplines. He then moved into the college ranks for 3 years as the jumps and strength coach for DeSales University (PA). While at these schools he coached numerous league, district, and state medal winners, school record holders, and athletes that went on to earn college scholarships for track & field.
Since moving to Hawaii in 2011, he has held both head and assistant coaching positions in both track & field and cross country at Island Pacific Academy, Maryknoll, Kamehameha, and now Mid-Pacific Institute.It was while at Maryknoll that he met and began to work with Coach Michael Harvey and Spartan Track Club was formed.
He earned his USATF Level I Coaching Certification in 2006. In 2013, he completed his Level II certification with a specialization in the jumps. Additionally, he holds several certifications in strength and conditioning, personal training, and myofascial release. He holds Master’s degrees in Sport Management and Leadership and Human Anatomy and Physiology Instruction. As a high school science teacher, he uses his background to both educate and take a holistic wellness approach to training athletes. In addition to joining the Mid-Pacific coaching staff for the upcoming 2025 season, he also works with several high school and college athletes through his side venture, Optimum Performance Athletics, providing both in-person and remote offseason strength training and event analysis coaching.

"Coach Chad" is Spartan Track Club Hawaii's middle distance/distance/XC coach. He's also an active member of the USATF officials crew (apprentice status).
Coach Chad is a former collegiate athlete (Northern Arizona University) and previously ran for The Running Room Racing Team (Canada) and Calgary International Track Club (Alberta, Canada).
He has a PhD in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering from UH-Manoa, where he now currently serves as the Assistant Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship. Coach Chad specializes in speed endurance, pacing, stamina, and mechanics.
Coach Terence Autida
USATF Level 1, Sprints
"Coach Terrence" was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada before moving on island in 2021. He has ran track since 2016 and strives to compete internationally to this day. Since 2020, he is affiliated with Pinoy Athletics, a team in the Philippines that supports the grassroots programs of the country and was appointed Co-Captain for their debut in their first national competition.
In 2021, Coach Terrence got his start working for Maryknoll under Coach Mike then transitioned to Spartan Track Club Hawaii the following summer, helping many athletes achieve personal bests. Coach Terrence wants to represent the Philippines National Team as either an athlete or a coach in the future.
